As the hit song wins ‘Best collaboration’ at the BET Awards 2022, Wizkid’s Essence has now earned another another accolade.
The remix of Essence with Tems and Justin Bieber, which was released in 2021 following the first release, is the one that took home the prize for Best Collaboration.
This song was nominated among other outstanding songs by well-known artists, including DJ Khaled Feat’s “Every Chance I Get.” Lil Baby & Lil Durk, Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar’s “Family Ties,” Doja Cat ft. SZA’s “Kiss Me More,” Drake ft. Future & Young Thug’s “Way 2 Sexy,” and Bia ft. Nicki Minaj’s “Whole Lotta Money” (Remix).
Tems, who was present at the awards ceremony received the award on behalf on Wizkid. In her appreciation remarks she said;
“Thank you, BET… This award is for really Wiz, Africa, and I just want to say that great thing is happening out of Africa right now and the light is on everyone there… This is dedicated to Africa and to Nigeria. Thank you.”
