Ashley Judd, daughter of Naomi Judd, has disclosed details about the cause of her mother’s heartbreaking death.

In an interview with Diane Sawyer, on Good Morning America, the actress said she was with her mom and stepdad, Larry Strickland in Tennessee when she died.

She confirmed her mother died by suicide on April 30, 2022.

“Mom said to me, ‘Will you stay with me?'” “And I said, ‘Of course I will.'”Ashley recalled.

Ashley noted that she discovered her mother was dead when returning inside after she went out to welcome a visiting friend.

She said to Diane, “I went upstairs to let her know that the friend was there and I discovered her. I have both grief and trauma from discovering her.”

“She used a weapon, my mother used a firearm,” Ashley said.

According to Ashley Judd, she decided not to address her mother’s cause of death during her interview, but realized the news had gone public.

She said Naomi’s passing had gone public without the family’s control.

“So that’s the piece of information that we are very uncomfortable sharing, but understand that we’re in a position that if we don’t say it someone else is going to,” she added.

Naomi Judd was an American singer-songwriter and actress born in 1983.

She is the mother of Ashley Judd and Wynonna Judd.

Noami and her daughter Wynonna merged to form the five time Grammy Awards winning group, known as The Judds, which became a very successful country music.

She was diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening liver disease (hepatitis C), which she contracted while working as a nurse in an intensive care unit in the 1980s.

She died on April 30, 2022, by suicide.
