Wesley Fofana of Leicester City and Chelsea Football Club have apparently come to terms.
Since the beginning of the summer transfer window, Chelsea FC have been interested in the player. The 21-year-contract old’s with Chelsea has been approved, according to the Daily Mail. However, Chelsea’s initial two offers to the foxes were turned down because they fell short of what they valued the defender at.
This Thursday, Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Leicester City, acknowledged in an interview that Chelsea made two offers for the player. He said that other teams would, of course, look at the offered price if they expressed an interest.
Chelsea is searching for a replacement for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who left for Real Madrid and Barcelona on free agents, in order to strengthen their defense before the transfer window closes. Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella were acquired by the London club from Napoli and Brighton, respectively.
Today after ninety minutes, Leicester City was defeated 1-4 by Arsenal FC. Wesley Fofana again headed directly for the tunnel towards the end of the game, but Rodgers stopped him and instructed him to go to the crowd instead, which he did while his teammates were still shaking hands. This may be a sign of the defender’s final moments with the foxes.
I’ll leave others to speculate on what this might mean but – whilst all the other players are chatting, swapping shirts and embracing – Wesley Fofana has gone over to the Leicester fans on his own. pic.twitter.com/DZOMgekGkn
