Thomas Tuchel Examines Chelsea’s Poor Away Form After Loss At Saint Mary’s

Thomas Tuchel Examines Chelsea’s Poor Away Form After Loss At Saint Mary’s, UncensoredGH.com

Following Chelsea’s loss against Southampton, Thomas Tuchel said that his team’s lack of resilience in difficult situations worries him.
Chelsea started out strong in the first minute of the game but unlike against Leeds,  they gained early domination by scoring first. Raheem Sterling gave Chelsea the lead halfway through the first half.

As happened at Elland Road, the Saints quickly equalized, and we failed to handle the disappointment of conceding well, allowing a second goal to be scored just before halftime. There would be no equalizer, and Tuchel gave his initial views on the loss in the aftermath.

‘We are not tough enough to win these away matches at the moment,’ he said.

‘It was the same story at Leeds. At Leeds we thought the problem was we didn’t score in the first 25 minutes, and they pushed us off balance with two goals and we couldn’t find any answers.

‘Today we scored, everything was okay, but one set-piece again, one sloppy defending again, and we were off balance.

‘We didn’t react. We were lucky not to concede a third goal at the beginning of the second half, and we were not tough enough as a team to react.’

Chelsea FC’s next match will be against Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League on the 6th of September 2022.
