Antonio Rudiger, a former defender for Chelsea Football Club, offered his first thoughts on Thomas Tuchel’s firing.
The German spoke while being interviewed by Patrick Berger, the president and CEO of Sport 1 in Germany. Rudiger claimed that he was upset to learn that Tuchel’s Chelsea contract had been terminated.
He bought new players and then dismissed after a few games, the day of his release was sad for me, I wrote to him and thanked him, he was there for everyone, if you look at where we came from and where he took us, he achieved the impossible. You know how it works in football, sometimes you are the hero, sometimes you are the bogeyman.
Under Frank Lampard, Rudiger was kept off the Chelsea roster and was considering leaving Stamford Bridge. The defender was given a shot at the club when Tuchel joined the London-based team in January 2021.
