Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas termed the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde on Tuesday a “horrific tragedy.”
“What happened in Uvalde is a horrific tragedy that cannot be tolerated in the state of Texas. There is swift action being taken by local law enforcement,” he told reporters
“Responding officers are suspected of killing him,” he said. “It looks that two responding cops were hit by shots, but they are unharmed.”
He also stated that any resources needed by the local authorities investigating the shooting will be provided.
Abbott also stated that the shooter allegedly shot his grandmother before entering the primary school.
“According to reports, the subject shot his grandma just before entering the school. I don’t know anything else about the link between those two shootings “he replied. The governor stated, “The person is reported to have been a student at Uvalde High School and is a US citizen.”
