The Taxi driver who returned a passenger’s GH¢8,000 missing money has been rewarded by the Vice-President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his honesty.

The man who has been identified as Kwesi Ackon received an amount of GH¢20,000 from the office of the Vice President after a wide search for him.

The man went viral after a video of him surfaced on social media, handing over a missing GH¢ 8,000 which belonged to one market woman who sells fish at the Mallam Atta Market in Accra.

The driver was showered with words of appreciation and blessing for his good deed by the woman and netizens. Little did he know his honesty was going to pay off massively.

Due to his honesty, the Editor-in-Chief of The Fourth Estate, Manasseh Azure Awuni, called for the taxi driver to be rewarded and got many donors.

Among the many donors was Vice President Dr Bawumia, who presented Mr. Ackon with GH¢20,000 for his honesty and exemplary show of integrity.

Manasseh also added an amount of GH¢2,500 from two other unidentified donors, making the total of GH¢22,500.
