American singer and songwriter, Mariah Carey has been sued by songwriter, Andy Stone for copyright infringement of his song.
Stone is suing Carey for allegedly drawing inspiration from a song he wrote and recorded years before she released her mega-hit in 1994.
The songwriter filed a civil lawsuit in the Eastern District of Louisiana on Friday for alleged “copyright infringement and unjust enrichment”.
Stone said the Grammy winner “never sought or obtained permission” for the use of his song.
Mariah Carey has not responded to the $20 million lawsuit.
