In the UEFA Champions League group stage encounter between Salzburg and Chelsea, Chelsea overcame the Austrian champions against all odds to snap Salburg’s 40-match winning streak.
With a 2-1 victory over Salzburg, Graham Potter’s team stopped a streak of 10+ months without a loss and qualified for the knockout stages. The blues earned all three points and the top spot in their group thanks to goals from Havertz in the 64th and Kovacic in the 23rd minute.
Following two straight draws in the Premier League, the Blues now have a victory.
FT: Salzburg 1-2 Chelsea.
Chelsea impressively end Salzburg’s 40-game home unbeaten run to qualify for the last-16.
Sensational strikes by both Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic are the difference.
A really good game and Graham Potter will be pleased at what he saw. #CFC #UCL
