After 76 years of reign, Queen Elizabeth II passed away following a short illness.
She died at the age of 96 on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
The palace announced that the queen passed away peacefully at her Balmoral Estate in the company of her family following concerns about her health earlier on Thursday.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
“The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
During her reign, she met with several African Head of States and Presidents, including Ghana.
Some of the past Ghanaian Presidents she met were Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, John Agyekum Kuffour, John Mahama, the Late Jerry John Rawlings and the Late John Evans Atta Mills.
