Multiple reports have alleged that Nigerian Senator, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka, have been arrested for human trafficking and organ harvesting by the UK police.
Reports suggest that, the couple were arrested on Thursday, June 23 in the morning by the Metropolitan Police.
They have since been arraigned before a magistrate at Uxbridge, according to reports.
Authorities alleged that the couple trafficked a child with the intention of harvesting the organs.
“Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting,
“Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.”
The child is currently with the UK government for protection.
“A child has been safeguarded and we are working closely with partners on continued support.”
Though the UK police did not name the suspects’ affiliations with the child, they however confirmed Mr Ekweremadu, and his wife, have been arrested.
“They have both been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court later today.
“As criminal proceedings are now underway we will not be providing further details,” the police charge said.
