Despite speculations that he was set to join Real Madrid, French star Kylian Mbappe has pledged his future to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
PSG, the Ligue 1 Champions, made the formal announcement on their website. Mbappe was expected to join the Galacticos at the end of the season, but the offers that both clubs gave to the player were very similar, making the decision easier for the player.
The Frenchman signed a three-year contract that will keep him with the club until 2025, with a salary of around a million pounds including endorsements.
Mbappe voiced his joy in front of the PSG fans, stating that he is pleased with his decision to extend his contract.
I am very happy. Here I can continue to grow within a club like Paris which gives me everything to perform at the highest level. I’m also very happy to be able to continue in France, the country where I was born, grew up and flourished.
According to sources from Spain, La Liga President Javier Tebas Medrano called PSG’s Mbappe acquisition “outrageous” and compared them to the Super League.
PSG fans will be hoping that Mbappe’s new contract will help their team win the UEFA Champions League.
