Thailand is breaking grounds with hemp and cannabis following its legalization as students can now offer degree in Cannabis Science.
Hemp and Cannabis was officially decriminalized by Thailand government on June 9, 2022, and citizens under the new regulations are loving their new life.
However, Thai government has stressed that cannabis is only legal for medicinal purposes and not recreational though other marijuana products such as edibles, cannabis tea or coffee are allowed to be served at F&B establishments.
Citizens can also grow their own cannabis at home following the passage of the law.
Incredibly, local restaurateur Jongkasem Julakham-Platon, who owns Filipino-Thai restaurant Toto Inasal in Bangkok, has teamed up with Waldo 18 to provide people the chance to study Cannabis Science as a degree.
The Waldo Institute of Petchburi has officially been accredited by Thailand’s Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), making the degree legit.
In addition, students can progress and earn Master or PhD in Cannabis Science.
“The institute is offering Bachelor, Master, and PhD in Cannabis Science. They are also developing a new breed named Rocher Breed. It’s a highly resistant and high-survival-rate cannabis breed. Toto Inasal will also help in the experimentation of cannabis products with food and beverages,” Julakham-Platon said.
This initiated puts Thailand ahead in the legalized cannabis movement in Southeast Asia.
