By mutual agreement, Marcos Alonso has left Chelsea, concluding a six-year relationship during which he won numerous championships and scored a number of iconic goals for Blues supporters.
The Spaniard, who shone at left wing-back in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, was crucial to our most recent Premier League victory in 2016–17. He had played in relegation-fighting games for Bolton and Sunderland during his previous stints in English football, but he had little trouble adjusting to life at a team that was actively seeking victories in various tournaments.
Following that outstanding title victory, the following five years saw success in the FA Cup, Europa League, Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup. Alonso could be trusted to frequently contribute important goals or assists.
All the best to Marcos Alonso as he embarks on this new endeavor in his home country.
