Just hours before Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan was scheduled to air on Wednesday, Manchester United demolished a huge mural of the player at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo alleges he feels betrayed by his treatment and lacks respect for manager Erik ten Hag, and United wants to expel him from the team.
He also criticized United for failing to show compassion when his infant daughter became ill last summer and asserted that the Glazer family was unconcerned with the team.
Just days after Ronaldo made a number of severe accusations, including that the club had “betrayed” him, United removed the No. 7 shirt from the club’s “More than a shirt” campaign.
Workers could be seen ripping down the mural depicting United’s illustrious No. 7s, which included Ronaldo, David Beckham, Bryan Robson, and Lionesses star Ella Toone.
When the first segment of the interview aired on Talk TV on Wednesday night, Morgan tweeted: “Wow… so petty!” in response.
Before judging if there are sufficient reasons to fire Ronaldo for contract breach, United’s attorneys are awaiting to witness the second half of the interview on Thursday.
