The top ten candidates for the African Footballer of the Year Award have been announced by CAF, the organization that oversees football in Africa.

On July 20, 2022, the organization posted the list of participants on its official Twitter account. Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, and Edouard Mendy of Chelsea are the three candidates for the prize, which will be presented on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

Mane and Mendy’s involvement for Senegal at the just-finished Africa Cup of Nations, which was held in Cameroon, earned them a spot in the championship match by assisting the West African squad in beating the Pharaohs of Egypt to the World Cup. Salah’s performance for Liverpool in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League earned him a spot on the final list.

The award presentation will take place in Casablanca, Morocco, on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
