Amapiano star, Lady Du has reacted after her father refuted her claim that she grew up poor.
DJ Choc in a trending video on social media hurled insults at his daughter for allegedly saying she grew up in poverty.
Following his video, Lady Du spoke with TshisaLive, and said she has been left bewildered and speechless by her father’s response. She added that claims alleging she grew up poor was taken out of context.
“In the year 2021, I was depressed. I had lost all I owned. I was away from home, and I didn’t want to worry him with my worries. It was a motivating message. It had nothing to do with the fact that I was poor as a child.
Someone misinterpreted my post and told my father that I mentioned I didn’t have this or that [as a kid]. I’ve never claimed to be impoverished and that I can rely on God. My father does not use social media, but I believe someone noticed my message and went to ask him about it,” she said.
Lady Du disclosed that attempts to reach out to her father following his response has proved futile as he is still in pain.
“I attempted to communicate with him. I sent a message to him. He’s in pain, and I’d like to get right to the point and figure out what’s wrong. If someone is damaged to that amount, I need to intervene, not alone, but with elders, so we can figure out why and how he got to that point.”
She opened up on her relationship with her father and said its has all been love between them until this day. Lady Du said there are people trying to sabotage her relationship with her father.
“My father and I have always shared a tight bond. He is my hero. With the industry and how we are, there will always be individuals in the middle who want to see us fall apart since we’ve always had a close link. That’s why I believe it’s hitting him more emotionally,” she added.
