The Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee has handed President of the Ashantigold Sporting Club, Mr Kwaku Frimpong an eight-year ban after being found guilty of match fixing.
The FA stated they found strong evidence against the AshantiGold President for a match-fixing during their game against Inter Allies in week 37 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
“There is strong evidence of match fixing between Dr Kwaku Frimpong and Nii Amoah Gogo, defacto official of Inter Allies FC.” a part of the statement read.
The FA statement said that, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong has been banned from partaking in football activities for Ten (10) years.
“The President of Ashantigold SC Dr. Kwaku Frimpong is banned from taking part in any football-related activity for a period of 120 months in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(i) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations 2019.”
Dr. Frimpong was also fined an amount of One hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis for involving in match manipulation.
“That a fine of One hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc100,000) is imposed on Dr. Kwaku Frimpong in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(ii) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations 2019.”
The Ghana FA has also demoted the former Ghana Premier League champions AshantiGold and Inter Allies to the Division Three League.
“That at the end of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season, Ashantigold SC shall be demoted to the Division Two League in accordance with Article 6(3)(h) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019.”
