The signing of Jules Kounde by Barcelona Football Club has been agreed upon in principle with Sevilla, according to the club’s announcement.
On Thursday, July 28, 2022, the Catalonia giants’ official website posted the news. The conclusion of the transaction, however, is contingent upon the player passing his physical and signing the contract.
Following the battle between Chelsea and Barcelona, Kounde’s transfer was one of the most intriguing in recent memory. Since the summer of the previous transfer window, the Blues have been interested in acquiring the French defender.
The defender was selected for the French national squad due to his performance from last year. During exhibition matches leading up to the UEFA European Championship, he made his debut. He was also a member of the team that defeated Spain to win the UEFA Nations League.
The 23-year-old defender from Barcelona is the third defender the club has acquired during this transfer window, joining Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen from Chelsea and AC Milan, respectively.
