Reports suggest that American actor, Johnny Depp, will be returning to play his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean for a deal worth more than $300 million.
The embattled actor was dumped from the franchise in 2018 following the allegations levelled against him by his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Sources close to Disney revealed the latest updated in an interview with Aussie news outlet Poptopic.
“The deal is reportedly for Johnny Depp to return as Jack Sparrow,” the source revealed.
The source also alleged that Disney are eager to mend their relationship with Johnny Depp and have reached out to him after the verdict of the defamation trail was announced.
“Disney are very interested in patching up their relationship with Johnny Depp.
“They reached out to the actor prior to his defamation trial against Amber Heard and asked whether he would be interested in returning for another ‘Pirates’ film or two,” the source said to Poptopic.
However, a source close to the actor have debunked the latest development. They told NBC News that “this is made up” – but reps for Depp and Disney are yet to respond to the rumours.
Johnny Depp starred in five ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies over the years.
He was dropped by Disney amid the sixth and final installment after his 36-year-old ex-wife, Amber Heard, released an op-ed article in the Washington Post which Depp claimed defamed him as a domestic abuser.
