Granit Xhaka has left Arsenal and joined Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent deal. The Swiss midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga club, for a fee of €25 million.
Xhaka joined Arsenal in 2016 from Borussia Monchengladbach, and went on to make 297 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals. He was the club captain for two seasons, but lost the armband in 2021 after a number of high-profile errors.
Xhaka has been a divisive figure at Arsenal, but he is also a talented midfielder who is capable of dictating the tempo of a game. He will be a valuable addition to Leverkusen’s midfield, and he will be hoping to help the club challenge for the Bundesliga title in the coming seasons.
