After 40 years in the sport, Filipe Scolari, the former manager of Chelsea Football Club, has announced his retirement from coaching.

Following the season’s last league match in the Brazilian Championship, Scolari made the news. Athletico Paranaense, the team he oversaw, finished sixth in the final standings of the league table.

When Scolari won the FIFA World Cup for Brazil in 2002, which was held in South Korea and Japan, his career reached its pinnacle. He also led Portugal’s dream squad to the 2004 European Championship final, when they fell to Greece.

The Brazilian was hired as manager of Chelsea Football Club in 2008, but a string of disappointing outcomes just a few months later led to the termination of his contract in February 2009. He continued to lead the Samba boys as their coach, but he could only lead them to the Semi-finals before Belgium smashed them 7-1.

After that, he managed a number of Brazilian football teams, including Gremio, Palmeiras, and Cruzeiro until deciding to call it quits with Athletico.
