Just hours after John Obi Mikel made the decision to hang up his football boots, former Chelsea Football Club player Ramires announced his retirement from the game.
On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, the Brazilian announced it on his official Instagram account. Ramirez signed with Chelsea during the 2010 summer transfer window, and under Carlo Ancelotti, he helped the team win the Premier League.
In 2012, he and the Blues also captured the UEFA Champions League. He will be remembered, nevertheless, for the goal he scored in the second leg of the semi-final against Barcelona.
Prior to moving back to Brazil to play for Palmeiras in 2020, the 35-year-old signed with Jiangsu Suning during the 2016 transfer window.
