Burna Boy’s 2023 Lagos headlining event drew harsh criticism from his followers. After extensive international traveling in 2022, Burna Boy made the decision to begin 2023 with a homecoming show in Lagos. But it fell short of the caliber of a typical Burna Boy performance elsewhere in the world.
The African Giant did not take the stage for the event, which was supposed to begin by 6 p.m. Nigerian time on January 1, 2022, until 3:30 a.m. Nigerian time on January 2, 2022, having the audience wait more than seven hours to witness the hitmaker.
Many irate concertgoers who paid excessive admission prices reportedly vented their resentment on social media, saying that Burna Boy’s lack of professionalism—despite arriving late—was intolerable.
Not sure when these Artists & Organisers will learn to respect our precious time. 2:03 AM and no Burna Boy on sight. No supporting act. Even the DJ seem as tired as everyone else. Didn’t know we were in for a full Night Vigil. 🥱😔 https://t.co/pJnOAVktOu pic.twitter.com/JTwYCE8HxZ

I’ve descended from VVIP section. Leaving before show ends. Don’t wanna be trapped in stampede and squashed exiting til 7am or even 9. This is my last video of Burna Boy as I leave. #LagosLovesDamini pic.twitter.com/wxz5csniPa
