Award-winning Nigerian singer – Davido has made a shocking revelation about his smash hit single, ‘Dami Duro.
The singer in an episode of ‘Afrobeats: The Backstory’ documentary made it known that he had no intention to record a song of the beat.
Davido said the beat was initially made for Sexy Steel.
“People that were in the studio when I recorded Dami Duro were Wande, Bigiano, Shank, and Shizzi. I started the beat to Dami Duro and then I was actually making the beat for Sexy Steel,” he said.
Dami Duro was released in 2011 and was a turning point for afrobeat music.
It was the second track from the singer’s debut album titled ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (2012).
The documentary on Afrobeats centers on the rise of the genre. Produced by Ayo Shonaiya, it was premiered on Netflix.
