In a news conference conducted today, August 17, 2022, newly recruited Chelsea player Marc Cucurella discussed the hair-pulling incident during the match against Tottenham and the decision reached by the referee Anthony Taylor and VAR’s Mike Dean on the matter.
Cucurella admitted that despite the fact that Romero’s behavior outside of the playing field lost his team the game’s three points, he had no issue with him. He continued by saying that this offense merited a straight red card for him.
He stated:
I have no problem with him. It’s just one action of the game but maybe it was important because it changed the final result. I will never get my haircut, this is my style. For me, yes.
