Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the squad numbers for the upcoming 2023/24 season, featuring both new signings and changes for existing players. With a blend of fresh arrivals and returning talents, the squad numbers offer a glimpse into the dynamic lineup that will represent the club in the new campaign.
Leading the list of summer signings is Christopher Nkunku, who has claimed the number 18 shirt. The French international forward’s arrival sets a promising tone for the season. Joining him is fellow forward Nicolas Jackson, who arrived from Villarreal and will sport the number 15 jersey.
Defender Axel Disasi, fresh from Monaco, will don the iconic number 2 shirt. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, recruited from Brighton, is set to wear the number 31. Malo Gusto, who rejoined the squad this summer after his January move from Lyon, secures the number 27. Rising midfield talents Andrey Santos and Lesley Ugochukwu take on numbers 20 and 16 respectively.
With the departures from Stamford Bridge creating vacancies, a series of players have opted for new numbers ahead of the season. World Cup champion Enzo Fernandez switches to the number 8 shirt, while Mykhailo Mudryk embraces the number 10. Raheem Sterling, fresh from Manchester City, is our new number 7, succeeding his previous number 17.
Noni Madueke selects the number 11 shirt, marking his readiness for the upcoming campaign. The new season also sees Marc Cucurella in the number 3 jersey, Benoit Badiashile in number 5, Carney Chukwuemeka in number 17, and Armando Broja transitioning to number 19.
In a gesture that resonates with Chelsea’s legacy, Levi Colwill assumes the number 26 shirt, famously worn by Academy graduate John Terry. Young talent Ian Maatsen, who made an impression during pre-season, steps into the spotlight with the number 29.
As anticipation builds for the new season, these squad numbers reflect the blend of experience and emerging talent that Chelsea will showcase on the pitch. With an array of fresh faces and familiar stars, the stage is set for an exciting journey in the 2023/24 campaign.
