The Chicago Fire’s goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina has joined Chelsea on a permanent basis, the MLS team has announced. The 18-year-old will reportedly rejoin the American club through the beginning of 2023. According to reports, Chelsea paid $15 million in addition to add-ons, and the 6-year contract will keep him at the club till 2028.

The American made his debut for the Chicago Fire’s first team and has been in outstanding form for the team. He appeared in 34 games for the team and played every minute in the 2022 season.
Slonina is anticipated to take Kepa Arrizabalaga’s place, who is reportedly on the verge of joining Serie A team Napoli.
