Ross Barkley’s contract was terminated by mutual consent, and Chelsea Football Club has acknowledged this.
On Monday, August 29, 2022, the Blues’ official website published the announcement. The midfielder was unable to make the matchday roster for the team led by manager Thomas Tuchel, according to reports from the club.
Barkley transferred from his childhood team, Everton, to the Blues in the 2018 January transfer window. During his tenure with the club, he appeared 100 times for Chelsea in all leagues and scored 12 goals.
He was also an important member of the Chelsea squad that defeated Arsenal in Baku in 2019 to win the Europa League under Maurizio Sarri. On the final day of the 2021–2022 Premier League season, the midfielder played his last game for the Blues against Watford, scoring a goal that gave the London team three points.
