On the 7th of March 2023, Chelsea Football Club secured a 2-0 victory over German side Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash at Stamford Bridge. The Blues controlled the majority of the match and were able to secure a valuable lead ahead of the second leg in Germany.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter tactical prowess was on full display as his team put in a dominant performance against the Bundesliga side. The Blues created a host of chances throughout the match and were unlucky not to have scored more goals.
Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz secured the crucial win for the home side. Raheem showed great composure to finish off a brilliant team move and give Chelsea the lead and that was followed by a penalty kick that was netted by Havertz.
Borussia Dortmund struggled to create any real chances of their own and were ultimately left frustrated by Chelsea’s well-organized defense.
Chelsea, on the other hand, will be buoyed by their impressive performance and will look to carry their momentum into the rest of the season. The Blues have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and continue their push for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
