Chelsea Football Club is excited to announce the acquisition of Ecuadorian talent Moises Caicedo. The 21-year-old midfielder has signed an impressive eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with the option for an additional year. Caicedo’s transition to Chelsea comes from his previous stint at Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion.
Caicedo’s skill set caught the attention of the club at an early stage, and he marked his senior debut at just 17 years old. He progressively solidified his position within the first-team squad during the 2020 season. Alongside his senior appearances, he maintained his participation in the U-20 Copa Libertadores, showcasing his versatility and potential.
Notably, Caicedo played a pivotal role in Independiente’s journey to the final of the competition, where they triumphed over River Plate. After a move to Brighton in February 2021, he made his debut in the subsequent season. A loan spell at Belgian club Beerschot followed, during which he gained valuable experience with 14 appearances. His performance led to a recall by Brighton, where he became an integral part of the squad.
In the previous season, Caicedo’s impact was remarkable. He contributed to Brighton’s impressive sixth-place finish in the Premier League, making 43 appearances. His efforts didn’t go unnoticed, as he earned the titles of both the club’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.
Chelsea fans can anticipate Caicedo’s promising presence on the pitch and the contribution he will undoubtedly make to the club’s future successes.
