The passing of Pele, one of the greatest players in football history, at the age of 82, placed the whole football community in utter mourning.
On December 29, 2022, Pele’s official Instagram account posted a notice about the necessity. In September 2021, the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo performed surgery to remove a colon tumor that had been found during normal examinations. In late November 2022, he was admitted to the hospital once more.
Through frequent social media postings from the hospital, Kely Nascimento has constantly kept followers informed of her father’s status. “Everything we are is thanks to you,” she wrote beside a photo of what looked to be Pele’s family’s hands on his body at the hospital. Brazil won the 1958 World Cup in Sweden with the aid of 17-year-old Pele. He is the first athlete to have captured the World Cup three times, in 1958, 1962, and 1970.
In 2000, Pele received the Fifa Player of the Century award.
