Aston Villa fired Steven Gerrard with a scathing 41-word statement following his team’s dismal 3-0 loss against Fulham.
Only 11 months after replacing Dean Smith at Villa Park, the former England captain was let go. Villa has since turned its attention to the former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, with negotiations allegedly taking place between middlemen.
At this point, it is unknown who will assume control of Villa’s upcoming match against Brentford at home. However, Villa may decide to turn to former player Gary McAllister, who was a member of Gerrard’s coaching team.
