Antonio Conte, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has listed the teams he believes can challenge for the Premier League championship.
The Italian was speaking at a press conference prior to his season-opening match at White Hart Lane against Southampton. Conte feels that leaving Chelsea and Manchester United out of the discussion is a mistake made by football pundits and supporters.
I think you forgot Chelsea and this is a big mistake, you are talking about a team that two seasons ago won the Champions League and it is a really big squad. Last season they won the World Cup for the club and why is Chelsea not in this group of top teams? For me, Chelsea is in this group and they want to stay there and they deserve to be considered for this position. There is United, ( Manchester) don’t forget that because football is not one plus one equals two.
As a seasoned manager, Conte is aware of what it takes to succeed in the Premier League. He led Chelsea win the championship in the 2015–16 campaign, and he also helped Spurs finish in the top four the previous year.
The supporters of Tottenham will be hoping that their team can advance this year and possibly win the Premier League title.
