Antonio Conte, the former manager of Chelsea and Tottenham, is back in the spotlight as reports suggest a possible return to coaching in Serie A, with reigning champions Napoli in the picture.
Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano, took to his official X account on October 11, 2023, to announce Napoli’s formal approach to Antonio Conte. It appears that Napoli is considering Conte as a replacement for Rudi Garcia, who took the helm during the summer break in 2023.
As per Romano’s post, conversations have begun, but no final decision has been reached. Several crucial points remain to be discussed before a definitive move with Conte can be made.
Conte boasts an impressive record, having led Inter Milan to victory in the 2020/21 Serie A season. This win was particularly significant as it marked Inter Milan’s first league triumph in 11 years, effectively ending Juventus’ nine-year reign as Italian champions.
While Conte’s managerial credentials are beyond question, Napoli is currently facing challenges in reproducing last season’s form under Luciano Spaletti. Presently, they occupy the fifth position in the league, securing 14 points. However, they find themselves trailing AC Milan, who lead the group with 21 points from eight matches, by seven points.
