Most areas of Accra experienced a light earth tremor on Monday morning (December 12, 2022).
The epicenter was situated 10 kilometers from Gbawe in the western region of Accra.
The event, which occurred on December 12, 2022, at 11:53 am local time, repeated again in a span of five hours.
The first one happened at 6:53 in the morning, again in Accra’s western region, 10 kilometers from Gbawe.
The seismic activity had a magnitude of 4.0, making it one of the biggest earthquakes ever recorded in Ghana, according to the Android Earthquake Alerts System.
According to the Ghana Geological Survey Department (GSSD), a team of experts has been sent to the epicenter to gather data. While a thorough investigation into the occurrence is being performed, the public is advised to maintain their composure.
